Send Yourself Forget Me Nots

Have you ever promised a child something and actually forgot to act on it in a timely manner? How did the child deal with the situation and you? That has happened to me in the past with my mini-me. She was kind enough to remind me every day about her candy bar that I promised to bring home was a big deal and I needed to understand that. In other words, don’t forget about me next time.

How are you with remembering to take some valuable time out for yourself? You should try to do something once or twice a month. Some say that their kids, family time and activities take precedence, so they have no time to allot to ‘me-time’. You have to make time for yourself in order to be fully available to anyone else. It’s like the airline video: put the mask on yourself and then on the person with you. The time can be 30 minutes to an hour in a day, once a week. It can be three hours over the course of a month. Sleeping is not included.

Get your calendars out and sit with your spouse/partner, children or friends and a lot some “Forget Me Not” time for yourself.

Here are four suggestions:

  1. Bubbles Around: Fill the tub with water and your favorite bath salts and bubbles. Light some candles, create a soothing playlist and put it on repeat. Get in the tub and just rest for a while.
  2. Fleet weekend: Schedule your hair/shave appointment along with a manicure and/or pedicure. Meet up with a friend and go for a bike ride, play ball or golf. The goal is to let the time pass you by as you get lost in yourself for a moment.
  3. Night Lights: Go out on a date, game night, or just hang out with friends for a few hours. Let others speak and listen or laugh as well as share your own thoughts.
  4. Walk your spirit: This is alone time in meditation, either walking about or sitting in a space that you have deemed sacred for that moment. Be still in that place of promise that makes you smile and rejuvenates your passion.

The idea is not to go far, but to be great in your current space and moments. Don’t forget about the most important person, YOU!!
