Choice (Part 2)

What is choice?
According to Webster, it is the act of selecting or making a decision when faced with two or more possibilities. It is also defined as the power, right, or liberty to choose.

How do we make choices?
According to Psychology Today, we choose actions via mental processes which are influenced by memories, biases, emotions, reason and intuition.

I posted a picture on social media and listed my location as the “Land of Appreciation” and received two very different responses. One was a concurrence of my choice of listing but the other was a ‘no words’ emoticon.  After I responded, I pondered the idea of how we choose to perceive and project our current circumstances.  I came up with the answer that we must choose to live in a place of gratitude as it is not given to us.
Try this for a week:

·         As you stir in the morning, choose to give thanks.

·         As your children stir in the morning, choose to give thanks.

·         When you walk into that burden of a works space, choose to give thanks.

Remember that there are people who would love to switch places with you in a heartbeat. Also, know that the energy that you project into the universe will come back to you at some point. Why not invest good vibes so that your return (even if it’s 10 years from now) will be good vibes.

For the past two year, television audiences have been going nuts on Thursday nights because of Scandal (ABC) and Olivia Pope. Dubbed as a professional ‘fixer’, Olivia has a methodology of ‘trusting her gut’ when making a decision.   How she responds to issues that arise with her clients is choosing to go with her gut feeling because she trusts it. It also helps that she is knowledgeable of her surroundings and that is a great help in her trusting her gut.

With all that is happening in the world today choices are becoming fewer and our gut can direct us in the way to go. How we can do this is to learn more about ourselves, culture, environment, laws, interpretation of law and society’s expectations.
Here are some things to think about and maybe implement in your daily movements.

·         Choose to create great memories.

·         Chose to live an abundant life, keep working at it.

·         Choose to be the best you that you can ever be.

·         Choose to say the words that build and sustain your family and community.

The choice is yours to make!
