WHY GO: DOIN' IT IN THE PARK: PICK-UP BASKETBALL, NYC is an independent documentary directed by Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Couliau. The film explores the definition, history, culture, and social impact of New York’s outdoor summer b-ball scene, the worldwide “Mecca” of the sport. The film captures 180 courts across the 5 boroughs and features b-ball greats, Julius "Dr. J" Erving, Kenny Smith, "Pee Wee" Kirkland, "Fly" Williams, God Shammgod, Tim "Headache" Gittens, Corey "Homicide" Williams, Kenny Anderson, Jack Ryan, Richard "Crazy Legs" Colon and many more. WHAT: GO Open Studio Weekend

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday – Sunday, September 8 – 9, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. all around Brooklyn

WHY GO: During GO, Brooklyn-based artists are asked to open their studios to the community for inclusion in a group exhibition to open at the Brooklyn Museum on Target First Saturday, December 1, 2012. In Bed-Stuy, there are dozens and dozens of artists who will be opening their private homes and studios to give you a intimate peak. Some of these artists include Joseph Bolton, David Prusko, Fedrecia Hartley, Jessica Angel Angeli Rasbury, David Gasowski and many, many more! To see the full artist lineup and locations, go here.
