The grand opening of Restoration Plaza Community Market, a farmers’ market, will allow residents to purchase fresh, local produce at Marcy Plaza. The market idea came out of a long-standing partnership between Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, who provided the space for the new market, and Brooklyn Rescue Mission, who is sponsoring the market.
Brooklyn Rescue Mission is a community-based organization in Bedford Stuyvesant focusing on emergency food provision, food justice issues, and community-grown food. The organization owns and operated an urban farm in Bedford Stuyvesant and works with youth, adults and seniors.
