DANNY MIXON

 JAZZ PIANIST,

born in Harlem, comes at last to joins the family of many wonderful Jazz friends that have performed or patronized the magical scene in THE ROOM for BrownstoneJAZZ. Always up close and personal

From NYTimes:

"DANNY MIXON is a pianist who began making an impression in the late 1960's when he was a teen-ager in Brooklyn, playing jazz in a manner that showed a variety of influences, including a strong feeling for Erroll Garner. In the years since then, he has been a member of Charles Mingus's group, has been Betty Carter's accompanist for four years and has worked his own gigs."

"His playing is strongly rhythmic, studded with insistent riffs, sometimes sliding into unexpected gospel settings. In this small room, his playing is extremely infectious. A large part of his audience often claps time with him and actually does it correctly. They become his ensemble accompaniment"

As our regular Jazz audience already know, we love being made apart of the show.So pack away the turkey for Sunday's last and come out for the Friay night Blast
