A Better Haiti: Empowering Children through Art Fundraiser

Inspired by the "My Vision for the Future of Haiti" children’s art competition held in Leogane, Haiti, August 2013, this fundraiser aims to voice the children's hopes and dreams for a better future through the publication of their artwork in a 2014 calendar, and through sponsorship of a second annual art competition in August 2014.

On August 2, 2013, organized by the "Another Haiti" group, about 100 children from the town of Leogane in Haiti participated in an art contest that challenged them to answer the question, “What is your vision for the future of Haiti?” In a town that was the epicenter of the 2010 earthquake that decimated homes and infrastructure already inadequate, hundreds of children of Leogane between the ages of 10 and 17 came by foot to enter the contest to share their vision. The long lines formed outside of the school where the contest was held, where eager bright eyes looked on to have a chance to share their thoughts and tell the story of a people who needed an outlet for their voice to be heard.

This fundraiser (a collaboration of CDi and a bunch of good people) aims to highlight the 12 winners from this children's art contest in a calendar format which we plan to continue annually.

Please join us for an evening of drinks and music for a great cause. The event will run from 5pm until 9pm and will include open bar from 5-6, cocktail hour, silent auction and more!
