Wings are just about as essential to the Super Bowl as beer and a TV to watch it on. But where to get the best buffalo wings in the borough? That’s exactly what we wanted to know.

So, the editors from all five Brooklyn Patch sites picked their favorite neighborhood wings and faced off for the title of best wings. Follow the links to get location info.

, Fort Greene

The wings from Buffalo Boss on Fulton Street come with the most prized ingredient of all: a celebrity endorsement. Jay-Z invested in the business co-owned by his cousin , putting this spot on the map. But Buffalo Boss isn't all hype, you can get a wide range of sauces on the reasonably priced wings, ranging from mild all the way to "n'sinerator." Other flavors like teriyaki and honey mustard are up for grabs, too. A batch of 100 wings costs $69. The Wing Bar on Smith Street has some of the borough’s best wings, and at a great value to boot. The ambiance at this spot is also better than your typical wing joint — it's not too bright and the TVs are plentiful. And with cheap pitchers, it just might be the perfect spot to kick back and watch the game. For all you veggies, or meat-eaters who'd like a side of anything not meat, there are tons of exciting options. The “Brooklyn Wings” at Peaches, $8.17 with tax, come seven in an order, and they are Peaches' most popular appetizer and a community favorite. The wings start out as chicken fried to a golden, crispy brown, and then they are slathered in a sauce that is hot and spicy, sweet and tangy, or both mixed together. The chef, Ben Grossman recommends the “both” option, which is says is unparalleled. He ways the sauce is a mixture of their house bbq sauce from Smoke Joint and their “Holla Peña” cayenne-based vinegar sauce, giving you a sweet/spicy/tangy flavor in one bite. If you're going to get wings for the big day (and who wouldn't?) you must get them from Wing Wagon, which has the best wings in all of Brooklyn. The wings aren't coated in crumbs like some inferior places. And the sauce is not just hot but also tangy. You can choose your level of heat, but we recommend the "hot." It's their most popular and has just the right amount of kick.  For Super Bowl Sunday, Wing Wagon will offer up 100 wings for $62 and deliver from Grand Street in Prospect Heights to10th Street in Park Slope to Dekalb Avenue in Fort Greene. If it’s wings you crave, best leave it to the pros. And if anyone deserves the title of “pro,” it’s certainly Bonnie’s Grill on Fifth Avenue in Park Slope. The wings at Bonnie’s are an American classic, with an extra crisp skin and super moist chicken. The sauce is nice and balanced, and plenty hot (even the medium-spicy option will make your mouth just a little bit).
