Weekend Traffic Advisory: Street Closures for March 3-4

NEW YORK CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES STREET CLOSURES AND EXPECTED TRAFFIC DELAYS FOR MARCH 3-4:

Drivers should expect delays in the following areas:

Saturday, March 3

HOLLAND TUNNEL WEEKEND SINGLE TUBE CLOSURE

The Holland Tunnel will completely close one tunnel for consecutive weekends. The first weekend’s South Tunnel closure is eastbound to New York, and the second weekend’s North Tunnel closure is westbound to New Jersey. During these closures, traffic will be diverted to other crossings. Closure times are listed below. These tunnels are necessary to facilitate roadway resurfacing.

NY bound South Tunnel:

Saturday, February 25th 1:00am - 8:00am

Sunday, February 26th 1:00am - 8:00am

NJ bound North Tunnel:

Sat-Sun, March 3-4

FULL CLOSURE - WILLIS AVENUE BRIDGE

NYCDOT will implement a full early morning closure of the Willis Ave Bridge to facilitate electrical system testing of the swing span. Full bridge closures will be conducted from 1:00am - 5:30am Tuesday thru Friday, and 2:00am - 6:00am on Saturdays thru March 10

During these closures motorists will be detoured to the Madison Ave Bridge @ East 138th St.

Northbound FDR motorists will continue on the FDR Drive to the East 135th St exit, proceed to Madison Ave and then onto the Madison Ave Bridge.

1st Ave motorists will take East 125th Street west to Madison Ave, turn north and proceed to the bridge.

Signage and Traffic Control Agents will assist motorists during these closures.

SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Queens:       1:00pm - 5:30pm

Formation: Beach 129th Street between Newport Avenue & Rockaway Beach Boulevard

Route: Newport Avenue between Beach 129th & Beach 116th Streets; Beach 116th Street between Newport Avenue & Rockaway Beach Boulevard; Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 116th Street & Beach 102nd Street. Rockaway Beach Boulevard to Beach 94th Street

Dispersal: Rockaway Beach Boulevard between Beach 94th & Beach 93rd Streets

The above streets will be closed for this event

Sunday, March 4

COOGAN’S RUN

Manhattan: 11:00am - 5:00pm

Formation: Fort Washington Avenue between 168th & 169th Streets; 168th Street between Broadway & Fort Washington Avenue

Route: Fort Washington Avenue between 169th & 190th Street

The above streets will be closed for this event

SAINT PATRICK’S DAY FOR ALL

Queens:       2:00pm - 3:30pm

Formation: Skillman Avenue between 43rd & 56th Streets

Route: 56th Street between Woodside & Skillman Avenues

Dispersal: Woodside Avenue between 56th & 61st Streets

STATEN ISLAND SAINT PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Staten Island:          12:30pm - 3:30pm

Formation: Hart Boulevard between Castleton & Forest Avenues

Route: Forest Avenue between Hart Boulevard & Decker Avenue

Dispersal: Barrett Avenue between Forest & Decker Avenues
