The blizzard warning, originally predicted to end at 6:00 pm today, is now scheduled to end at noon

Bed-Stuy residents today woke up to two feet of snow, almost twice that of what was predicted by weather forecasters. In many places, the snow was as high as four feet, due to the snow drifts caused by 50-mile-an-hour winds last night.

Cars were completely engulfed in snow on some blocks, particularly those parked on the north side of the street where snow drifts were highest. And as of 9:00 am, snow plows had not yet made it to the central Brooklyn, making it nearly impossible to travel more than one block in any direction.

The National Weather Service has issued another hazardous weather outlook for today, with high winds and the possibility of some more flurries. However, the blizzard warning, originally predicted to end at 6:00 pm today, is now scheduled to end at noon:

Today: Widespread blowing snow and a chance of snow showers before noon, then widespread blowing snow after noon. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 27. Very windy, with a northwest wind between 33 and 40 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around 21. Blustery, with a northwest wind between 21 and 25 mph. 

Also, there is reported road closure on the Bklyn-Queens Expressway in all lanes both directions on the BQE from Hamilton Ave to the Brooklyn Bridge. The closure is due to multiple disabled vehicles and a tractor trailer.
