Teens Text More Than They See Their Friends Outside of School, Says Study

A Pew Research Center study says 63% of teens are texting on a daily basis, while only 35% are seeing their friends face-to-face.

Think your teen is glued to their cell phone? You’re not alone, says a new report.

Sixty-three percent of teens are exchanging text messages daily, says a new Pew Research Center study, and according to the Daily News, this means that texting is fast becoming the primary form of communication amongst teenagers.

The article also says that the “volume of texting among teens has risen from 50 texts a day in 2009 to 60 texts for the median teen text user,” with older teen girls sending about 100 texts per day. According to the News, black teenagers are also texting more, going from 60 to 80 text messages per day.
