Restoration's Nine

For the first time ever, Restoration will have a team of runners representing the organization in the NYC Marathon

Sunday, November 6, is the ING 2011 New York City Marathon, and for the first time ever, Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation has a team running on its behalf.

The nine runners for Team Restoration represent more than just the borough of Brooklyn. They are New Yorkers from all over who support the mission and work of Restoration.

This year’s runners are:

1. Drema Brown, Vice President of Education, Children’s Aid Society


2. Heidi Burkhardt, Chairman and Founder of Dane Professional Consulting Group

3. Alisha Cowan-Vieira, Director of Media Strategy and Content Development, American Values Initiative


4. Pierre Downing, Analyst, The Related Companies


5. Jessica Freeman, National Development Officer for Local Initiatives Support Corporation


6. Colleen Flynn, Community Development Officer at Local Initiatives Support Corporation


7. John Scott Johnson, Senior Project Manager for West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing


8. Melissa Lee, Managing Director for the Coalition for the Improvement of Bedford Stuyvesant (CIBS)


9. Folake Oguntebi, Board Chair for Grown Brooklyn; and trainer John Adams of the East Coast International Track Club

Team Restoration’s fundraising goal is $50,000. So far, they have raised $28,000.

  • Emmanuel Baptist Church- 279 Lafayette Avenue (north east corner of Washington Ave).
  • Dough- 305 Franklin Ave (corner of Franklin Ave and Lafayette Ave)
