Pumpkin as a Beauty Rx? Yes!

When seasons change, so do your skin's needs. Adjust by working with -- not against -- nature!

In the beauty biz, you can expect every season to bring on some kind of featured product. And this fall, it’s no different.

My quest for themed goodies led me to the discovery of pumpkin-based skin care products that in fact produce great results.

Pumpkin contains all kinds of vitamins, including Vitamins A, C, E, zinc, beta-carotene, potassium, and antioxidants. Topically, it soothes the skin from redness while reducing irritation and leaves it super smooth.

This is ideal, considering how close we are to receiving harsh weather, and we all know what it does to our skin.

I typically didn’t think of using pumpkin in facial products, however I discovered a simple and easy recipe that assists with exfoliation and brightness. I gave it shot and LOVED it! Here’s what you’ll need:

1/4 cup pureed pumpkin
1 egg
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon milk

After whipping these ingredients in a bowl, apply a thin layer over your entire face and let sit for approximately twenty minutes or until it dries, and then rinse with warm water. Pat dry, then follow up with your favorite moisturizer or serum.

If you like bubble baths, Philosphy’s Homemade Pumpkin Pie Bath and Shower Gel may grab your attention with its sweet scent of warm cinnamon. It lathers up to a rich foam that can also be used in your hair. Also, lather up with Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin lotion by Bath and Body Works to add moisture with just a hint of vanilla.

Remember—when seasons change, so does your skin’s needs. Don’t be afraid to adjust your products by using things rich in vitamins, minerals and tons of moisture. That way, your skin is healthy and protected from Ol’ Man Winter.
