Poll: How do YOU View the Occupy Wall Street Movement?

Some say it's great; others are not sure, while others think it's a total waste of time

It’s been four weeks. The crowds around Zuccotti Park are swelling by the day; continues to pick up steam, and all of America (finally) is paying attention.

What is clear is that a large segment of America is fed up with politicians and policies that protect the financial interests of Wall Street over securing the well being and future of Main Street.

(The richest 20 percent of households own 85 percent of the wealth. That means 80 percent of the American population is splitting 15 percent of the country’s wealth between them).

But what is not totally clear is the group’s overarching agenda.

For some detractors, like GOP House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Occupy Wall Street is little more than a disorderly growing mob behaving "un-American." Others refer to the group as a bunch of wayward college students and hippies who need to “get a job.”

But according to Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, civil resistence has advanced some of the most meaningful agendas in American society. And as for Cantor's "mob" reference, “They didn’t call them mobs when the Tea Party was out demonstrating, and actually spitting on members of Congress,” she remarked.

However, whether the opinions generate from the left or the right, the fact remains that the issues raised by the Wall Street occupiers in many ways cross political lines and are not easily connected to partisan policy.

Bed-Stuy Patch is asking readers: How do you view the Occupy Wall Street Movement, its relevance, importance or lack thereof in the midst of this country’s Great Recession and upcoming presidential election? (See Video).
