Police have arrested one suspect and are looking for a second

Police are looking for the second of two suspects involved in the shooting of a father and his two-year-old son Thursday afternoon in Von King Park.

The shooting took place at approximately 2:00 p.m. in the park close to Marcy Avenue, near the Van Buren intersection.

The 39-year-old victim was with his son in the park when two men approached him and began to shoot, hitting the man in his hand and his arm. The toddler was shot through both of his elbows, according to police on the scene.

Police said the victim likely knew the shooters and was the target, while his son unintentionally was injured in the shower of bullets.

Officers pursued one suspect, a 19-year-old man, who ran into a building on Lafayette Street between Tompkins and Throop. He was captured and arrested and his identity has not been released.

The second suspect is still at large.
