Gas prices set on a volatile course

"Volatile" and "unpredictable" is the best way to describe gas prices as of late in Bed-Stuy, as they swing back and forth, with no sign of steadying.

After a one-week increase, this week, the prices drop back down to where they were for the two consecutive weeks prior, from $3.67 per gallon of regular gas, to $3.63. That's a four-cent decrease.

A quick patron poll last week revealed that gas prices and their see-saw behavior has created a feeling of apathy among many customers who have come to believe the prices to be unreliable and subject to speculators' whims.

Others say, they will not begin to pay attention to prices again until they fall below $3 or rise above $4.

In the meantime, Bed-Stuy Patch will continue to keep an eye out for the direction and speed of prices at our local stations.
