Gas prices continue to fall! Can motorists finally begin to look forward to more reasonable gas prices?

Gas has dropped another four cents this week since our last Petro Patrol, from $3.73 per regular gallon of gas, to $3.69.

That's an overall 34-cent drop since the downward price trend first started, according to our August 1, 2011, Petrol Patrol. That's an average decrease of five-and-a-half cents each week.

At that time, gas had piqued at $4.03.

"I still think it's only temporary," said motorist Sandro Badio, 33, who was getting the tires on his SUV fixed across the street from the gas station. "But it's still way better than before."

Sandro added that when gas prices were at their highest this summer, it cost him $150 to fill his tank, but he admits, that even at the higher prices, he couldn't afford to curtail his driving.

At the current prices, he says he's saving around $20 to fill his tank. But he said he won't get excited until he sees the prices fall to $2.99 per gallon.
