Petro Patrol

The price of gas falls 4 cents lower

Since our last Petro Patrol on June 2, the price of petroleum has fallen again, this time by four cents, bringing the current price of regular gas at the station we've been watching to $3.95, down from $3.99.

According to the AAA Fuel Gauge Report and "price heat" map, New York is considered a "red state," meaning it has one of the highest gas prices in the country--  $4.144 was the average price of regular gas in the city, when it was at its highest. The only other city to beat New York was Chicago, which had the nation's highest big-city average at $4.200 a gallon, at its peak.

Other red states included California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii, meaning their gas prices average $3.885 a gallon or higher.
