Gas prices experience a four-cent increase

It appears the six-week consecutive fall in gas prices is over.

Last week for the second straight week, the prices held steady at $3.63. But we now know why: The prices were preparing for an about-face.

This week, the price of regular gas has increased 4 cents to $3.67 per gallon.

However, patrons at the pump seemed unaffected by the increase.

"I don't care anymore, because there's not much I can do to change it," said Daniel Hong of Sunset Park.

"I drive an SUV, so the cost of gas for me is always high," said Vanessa Braithwait, 34. "It probably won't make a difference for me until the prices drop below $3 a gallon."

And 47-year-old Hasaan Diallo seemed the least affected of all: "We can't do nothing about it, so it doesn't really matter to me. We have to pay whatever they tell us to pay. So why get upset?" he said.

"What are you going to do? Yell at the government? That's not going to change anything. They know we need gas to get around, so even if they increase it to $5, $6, $7, we're going to pay it. But that's the way it goes in this life... Some things will make you happy. Some things won't."
