The news keeps getting better and better for patrons at the pump

The downward trend in pricing continues at the pump.

Over the weekend, the price of gas dropped once again to $4.12 from $4.15, and then again today, there was another price drop of 3 cents more, bringing the latest price of regular gas to $4.09, a total of 6 cents in one week.

As reported earlier, analysts predict prices will continue to drop through the month of June.

How do New York City motorists feel about the price drop?

One patron named Mustafa said he is happy to see prices finally beginning to level off:

“Finally it’s going down,” he said. “It was almost five dollars, now it’s going down. I hope it falls to three-something.”

However, another patron, Hortense, 54, says she won’t be happy, really, until she sees a steeper drop. She blames the rising prices on greed and says that the price should fall even lower if we were drilling for oil domestically versus purchasing it overseas:

“We are paying twice for oil,” she said. “We buy it from overseas, and then we have to pay again to purchase it here. I agree with Obama in that we need to drill right here. And I think these prices can go much lower than this. I won’t really be satisfied until I see it drop much lower.”
