Petro Patrol

Gas prices spike up 12 cents from last week!

Gas prices dropped another two cents earlier in the week from $3.87  during our last Petro Patrol, to $3.85, only to suddenly reverse itself a few days later and spike right back up another 14 cents to $3.99.

One patron at the pump might be on to something when he blamed the sudden increase on oil companies trying to take advantage of people preparing for Hurricane Irene.

"I think the prices went up because the shop owners knew there would be greater demand around the hurricane," said Reggie Chisholm. "If it's true, it's proof that gas is still subject to market forces and demand. It also shows just how steeped in greed our country is."
