Petro Patrol

The price of regular gas has dropped ten cents since our last patrol

The price of regular gas has dropped ten cents, from $3.89 to $3.79 since our last patrol on June 26, 2011.

The ten-cent drop -- the largest since our Patrol began on April 27, 2011 -- followed the June 23 announcement that President Barack Obama authorized the release of 30 million barrels of the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Additionally, the U.S. Energy Information Administrtation's June forecast report says that the regular-grade motor gasoline retail price will average $3.75 per gallon during this summer's driving season (from April 1 through September 30), up from $2.76 per gallon last summer, but 6 cents per gallon lower than last month.
