The Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger is dealing with a food crisis

The Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger needs your help.

Remember back in December 2010 when the food pantry --known for its commitment to serving fresh food-- ?

Well, even back then, Tamara Dawson, the program’s manager said, although they were happy to be able to serve so many people, she was concerned about the coming months, because their funding and resources quickly were dwindling.

The coming months are here, and today, staff members are dealing with a food crisis.

On Friday, the pantry closed 90 minutes after opening, because it had depleted its resources. Donations from local supermarkets and City Harvest are running out so fast, staff members now are scrambling to keep the pantry filled.

And with shelves emptying quickly and the pantry not able to serve the 10,000 individuals who visit each month, the foundation is guiding people to its website to make donations.

Just $35 provides a family with 9 meals. To donate, click here.

The food pantry serves residents in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Brownsville and Ocean Hill.
