Today, October 31, is the deadline for NYC Pre-Kindergarten enrollment.
Families with children turning four by December 31, 2012 (born in 2008) can still enroll children in a pre-k program for this school year.
NYC's Universal Pre-K (UPK) programs provide a nurturing environment to prepare young children for academic life in grammar school.
UPK programs are available at select NYC Department of Education (DOE) public schools and at many community-based organizations (CBOs). All UPK programs are free of charge, can be half-day or full-day and may take place in the morning or afternoon.
Eligibility: Children born in 2008 who reside in New York City are eligible to participate in UPK programs that are offered by the NYC Department of Education in the 2012-13 school year.
