Karen's Weekly Words of Wisdom: Perseverance

Many life lessons are extracted when you take the time to perservere

Walking from Fulton and Malcolm X Blvd from Bed-Stuy, to 125th Street in Harlem is about 17-18 miles, depending on which device you use to calculate your mileage. 

I accepted a challenge to take this walk and was told that I would feel a sense of clarity and accomplishment at the end of this journey.

However, somewhere around mile fourteen, I began to question my reasons for taking this journey and furthermore, wondered, "what was I really getting out of it?"

If you ask the universe a question with all sincerity, be prepared to receive an answer that will be prompt and direct.

Three things were echoed as I walked:

A. Don't be afraid of hard work as it is very rewarding.

B. Learn to be more patient with myself and in turn, I will learn to be more patient with others.

C. My greatest opposition is myself when I create roadblocks with negative thoughts.

I did in fact receive clarity and a sense of accomplishment when I completed my journey. But the real lesson for me was perseverance.

When you get to "mile 16" in your life, and everything is hurting and you can’t fathom going another mile, take notice of those tiny nuggets of inspiration that pop up and encourage you to persevere.
