Karen's Weekly Words of Wisdom: Invest in Yourself For The New Year

Create goals for 2012

Every year people make resolutions with great intentions, hoping that they will be successful in resolving their list.

I am going to excercise and lose weight.

I am going to stop smoking.

I am going to take a trip to the French Riviera.

Every year, we hear that the resolutions never came to fruition because life and lack of dedication got in the way of it all.

As we near 2012, I suggest that you choose to create some goals as opposed to resolutions. Rather than just wanting to do something, you should have an aim and a purpose for doing it.

Resolution (noun) - a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.

Goal (noun) - the result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.

It's time for something new. It's time to accomplish some goals.

List FOUR goals for 2012. Underneath, add any specifics that will help you to acquire each goal.

For example, your goal may be to purchase a home. Subcategories could be increasing your credit score, saving money for the down payment, eating out less, using coupons to add to your savings, and so forth.

Envision the end result as you are writing or creating your goals list and think about how badly you want it. You have three hundred and sixty five days to make this happen. You can break this up by doing self assessments every ninety days to reflect on what you have achieved and move forward with your goal.

Remember, anyone can make resolutions but those who want to succeed create goals.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
