Karen's Weekly Words of Wisdom: Giving Thanks

Be thankful for where you are in life right now and forgive yourself for the things that you planned to accomplish but have not.

On Thursday, most of you will be gathering with family members around the table to enjoy the feast of Thanksgiving.

Before everyone eats, each person is asked to express gratitude for something or another.

Most people are thankful for family and loved ones as well as their jobs. Here’s a twist for your prayer this year, be thankful for where you are in life right now and forgive yourself for the things that you planned to accomplish but have not.

We tend to be hard on ourselves for the famous triplets known as 'Shoulda, Coulda and Woulda'.

You know them quite well because they exist in everyone’s family. Well this year, evict them from the dinner table by acknowledging your shortcomings and understanding that they are life’s lessons.

  •  Be thankful for future opportunities because you are learning to be patient.
  •  Be thankful for unforeseen roadblocks that you experienced.
  •  Be thankful for the areas in your life that you know need to be worked on.   

Winners always acknowledge their shortcomings and forgive themselves for it.  Then they go off and work on the areas where they are weak to get that up to par with their strong points.

You know them as Olympians. I know them as winners.You are a winner – realize this yourself!
