Karen's Weekly Words of Wisdom: Consistent in Growth

Evolving the authentic you

When working on creating the ideal life for ourselves and our family, we sometimes find ourselves in a funky place.

That place may be seeking support from the wrong group of friends, partnering with the less than ideal people and associating at less than stellar establishments.

Last week, I introduced the New You Project which is all about cleansing and purifying you in order to mentally, physically and emotionally ready yourself to accept your blessings.

Part of creating a new you is working on being totally comfortable with who you are as a person. Within the membership upgrades that I speak of, the person within remains consistent. Being consistent allows you to work within a formula that is synonymous with who and what you are about.

Children grow up and become adults, but some habits remain throughout their lifetime. Evolution of the brand requires you to be true to yourself and realistic with your goals. A great example of this is Bed-Stuy’s own Jay Z and the way he works within his business ethic.

In an interview with Warren Buffet he speaks on the principle of being consistent within his own brand. His music doesn't necessarily reflect what's hot within the hip hop genre right now. He will do a song within that ‘popular state’ of music, but the body of work will not be reflective of such.

He continues to evolve the brand and the individual until they become one. You cannot be afraid of redeveloping yourself and your brand. Think of it as a program on your computer, there are always new updated patches to fit the new mode of operating systems.

It’s the same with your personal development, upgrading the patches involves new memberships and partnerships. Expand your brand and be consistent.
