Street closures during the Macy's Annual Fireworks Display

STREET CLOSURES for July 4th, 2011

New York City Police Department today announced street closures during the Macy's Annual Fireworks Display over the Hudson River. The event will take place on Monday, July 4, 2011 beginning at about 9:20 p.m. and ending at 9:50 p.m. 

The Department reminds spectators that no large backpacks, lawn chairs, lawn blankets, coolers or alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the viewing area. All restricted items are subject to search and seizure.

Drivers are advised to use public transportation and avoid the following locations between 2:00pm and 2:00am

  • Northbound Westside Highway from 23rd Street to 57th Street from 4:30 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m., July 5th, or until cleanup is complete.
  • Southbound Westside Highway from 42nd Street to 79th Street from 4:30 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m., July 5th, or until cleanup is complete.
  • Southbound Westside Highway from 42nd Street to 23rd street from 5:30 p.m. until approximately 1 a.m., July 5th, or until cleanup is complete.

 

Spectators may gain access to the Hudson River viewing area from the following locations (Access blocks will be closed as viewing areas fill up. Spectators will then be redirected to open access blocks as appropriate):    

11th Avenue at: 24th Street, 27th Street, 29th Street, 33rd & 34th Streets, 40th Street, 42nd Street , 44th Street, 50th Street, 52nd Street, 54th Street, 56th Street, 57th Street
