Jay-Z to Remember Bed-Stuy Childhood in New Rocawear Commercial

"From Marcy to Madison Square" will show footage of his rise from the Marcy housing projects to selling out Madison Square Garden.

Multi-platinum rapper and business mogul Jay-Z will pay homage to his roots selling CDs out of the trunk of a car in the Marcy public housing projects in a new commercial for his apparel brand Rocawear, reported New York Magazine.

The new commercial, set to air on MTV, BET, and TNT during NBA basketball games, will be called "From Marcy to Madison Square," and will show black and white footage of Jay-Z getting his start, to playing sold-out concerts at MSG, the report says.

New York says that the commercial may be a direct response to sluggish sales for Rocawear, and a reminder to fans that the rapper is still directly involved in the business.
