Halloween Happenings for Children in Bed-Stuy

Scheduled events for safe play this Halloween weekend in and around the neighborhood

WHAT: Fulton Park Halloween Festivities

WHEN/WHERE: Monday, October 31st from 4:00-7:00 pm, at Fulton Park on Fulton Street and Stuyvesant Avenue

WHY GO: The goulish Fulton Park Halloween festivities will happen in Fulton Park (Stuyvesant Avenue) with Halloween Story Patch, Dance Contest, and Parade.  Bags and maps directing families will be given out at 5pm. Festivities begin at 4 PM.  Presented by the Stuyvesant Heights Parents Association with sponsors: The Brownstoners of Bedford-Stuyvesant and the Shops of Lewis Avenue.

WHAT: Brooklyn Children’s Museum Presents “Monster Mash,” an Extended Museum-Wide Dance Party!

WHEN/WHERE: Friday, October 28, from 3:00pm – 7:30pm and Saturday, October 29, from 3:00pm – 8:30pm, The Brooklyn Museum, 145 Brooklyn Avenue

WHY GO: This year, families can enjoy the museum’s Halloween-themed programs and activities, featuring family-friendly trick-or-treat alternatives, including a costumed DJ dance party, Michael Jackson “Thriller” tribue, drop-in craft workshops, a museum-wide costume parade, spooky stories and much more. This festival is not to be missed! Children of all ages are encouraged to attend, dressed in their best Halloween attire!

HOW MUCH: Members ($5 on Sat., $6 on Sun.), Non Members ($10 on Sat. $12 on Sun)

 

WHAT: Kids Halloween Party

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, October 29, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA, 1121 Bedford Avenue (on the corner of Monroe Street).

WHY GO: Come have a “spook-tacular” time at the Y, with food, fun and games in a safe, holistic, protective and family-centered environment.

HOW MUCH: Free

 

WHAT: The 79th Police Pct. Halloween Party

WHEN/WHERE: Monday, October 31, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm

WHY GO: The 79th Pct., along with the Bed-Stuy Rehab Association is hosting an all-ages Halloween Party that will be a safe and friendly environment for children to enjoy themselves. The group will be giving out hot dogs and treats

HOW MUCH: Free

 

WHAT: Halloween Garden Party

WHEN/WHERE: October 31, from 2:30 – 6:30, at the Vernon & Throop Community Garden on Vernon and Throop Avenues

WHY GO: It’s a Halloween celebration in a garden! What better way to celebrate this festive day than with food, treats in a nurturing and natural environment!

HOW MUCH: Free

 

WHAT: 12th Annual Halloween Festival in Fort Greene Park

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, October 29th, 2011 from 12:00pm-3:00pm, Fort Green Park (Dekalb Avenue at Washington Park)

WHY GO: The Fort Greene Park Conservancy presents the 12th annual free Halloween Festival in Fort Greene Park.  Hundreds of children will be treated to hay rides, games, sack races, face painting, stilt-walkers, entertainers and their choice from 1000 free pumpkins to decorate. Plus there will be a costume parade and spooky cemetery with such luminaries in residence as “Will B. Back” and “R U Next”. There will also be a costume contest for dogs and their owners sponsored by Fort Greene PUPS, the local dog-owners organization
