Gun Buy-Back Collects 134 Firearms

Brooklyn's gun buyback program concluded this weekend, and 134 weapons were removed from the streets

The Brooklyn Buyback event on Saturday, December 15, at at St. Peter's Lutheran Church and Mount Olive Baptist Church successfully recovered 134 weapons being surrendered

A breakdown of the firearms surrendered today is as follows
80 revolvers
31 semi-automatic pistols
4 rifles
3 shotguns
1 sawed-off shotgun
15 others (BBs, zips, starter pistols).

Some of the more notable firearms surrendered were a .22 Magnum Derringer "wallet gun"; a Beretta model 84 .380 caliber; a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum

New York State Senator Malcolm Smith funded the program, and individuals received a $200 bank card for surrendering a weapon. Since the program's inception more than 8,000 guns have been surrendered.
