Get Out: SOLA's Sidewalk Soiree, Urban World Film Festival and a House Party in the Park

WHY GO: This event will mark Urban World’s first-ever Brooklyn community pre-festival screening. The official Urbanworld® Film Festival, scheduled for September 19-23, is the largest internationally competitive festival of its kind. The five-day festival includes narrative features, documentaries, and short films, as well as panel discussions, live staged screenplay reading. Films to be screened: "The Christmas Tree,” "Mikel’s Faith"and"Junior and the Saint."

WHAT: The Irondale Ensemble’s “Color Between the Lines”
WHEN/WHERE: Friday, September 14, 7:30 p.m., Flatbush Reformed Church, 890 Flatbush Ave., Bklyn
WHY GO: “Color Between the Lines” is an original work devised by the Irondale Ensemble and developed as part of the borough’s first public history project to explore the abolitionist movement in Brooklyn.

WHY GO: Calling all artists to contribute your talent for a showcase and jam session. It’s a fundraiser to help send President Barack Obama back for a second term
