WHAT: Brooklyn Critical Mass, The Movement

WHEN/WHERE: Friday, March 9, 7:00pm, Starting at Grand Army Plaza (Eastern Parkway and Flatbush)

WHY GO: Brooklyn Critical Mass is a monthly celebration of bicycles and other nonpolluting means of transportation, exercising the public’s right to the road. Critical Mass is a movement, not an organization; no two riders participate for exactly the same reason.Brooklyn Critical Mass started rolling in 2004 and occurs the second Friday of every month, 7:00 p.m., meeting at Grand Army Plaza. Come out and celebrate cycling, and assert your right to the road -- Brooklyn style!

WHAT: Soul Sista party with DJ Spinna: Honoring Diana “The Boss” Ross

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, March 10, 10:00pm – 4:00am, The newly renovated Two Steps Down, 240 Dekalb Avenue (btwn Vanderbilt & Clermont Aves)

WHY GO: This will be a special night honoring all the "sistas" of soul, hip hop & reggae but with a special dedication to Diana Ross. Also DJ Spinna will be mixing in duet joints with your favorite soul brothers. Free buffet dinner!

WHAT: THE BOX THAT ROCKS: 30 Years of Video Music Box and the Rise of Hip Hop Music & Culture

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, March 10, 6:00pm – 9:00pm, MoCADA, 80 Hanson Place

WHY GO: Come out to the opening reception of The Box that Rocks, an exhibition of contemporary art that celebrates the global influence of the groundbreaking television program Video Music Box, and its pioneering creator, Ralph McDaniels. Launched in 1983, Video Music Box ushered in the popularity and innovation of music videos, and propelled a new era of cultural identity, artistic innovation and entrepreneurial vision. Guest curated by Dexter Wimberly, the exhibition features photography, painting, mixed-media works, video installation, and interactive digital art that explores key elements of Video Music Box and highlights the program’s historic contribution to Hip Hop music and culture.
