WHAT: “Hope and a Future” Benefit Concert for Haiti

WHEN/WHERE: Friday, January 13, 2012, at Walt Whitman Theatre on the Brooklyn College campus

WHY GO: “Hope and a Future” is Community2Community’s (C2C) signature fundraising event fuels much needed resources in Haiti, following the devastating earthquake of 2010.

HOW MUCH: Tickets are $65 and $55 ($10 off for students and seniors) and can be purchased at the Walt Whitman Theater box office or at www.tickets.com. All tickets are full tax-deductible.

 

WHAT: Live Performances at Dee and Ricky’s Home Cooking

WHEN/WHERE: Every Sunday, 12:00pm – midnight, 504 Myrtle Avenue, Bklyn, (between Ryerson street and Grand Avenue, 3 blocks east of Washington Avenue)           

WHY GO: There will be a live performance by the Strobert Family Trio, from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. This is a fashionable food and drinks setting serving lunch and dinner

WHAT: The Restoration Dance Theatre Company Presents: “Lights, Camera, Movement!”

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, January 14, 2012, 7:00pm, at the Kumble Theatre for the Performing Arts, Long Island University Campus, 1 University Plaza

WHY GO: Join us on location for LIGHTS, CAMERA, MOVEMENT! for the Restoration Dance Theatre Company’s annual concert in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The company returns to the Kumble Theater with an eye on his journey through the lens of contemporary dance movement. The evening will take you from reel to real reflecting both trials and triumphs. RDTC’s young dancers look forward to exhibiting their artistic achievements making footprints on the path to a promising future. The evening spotlights Restoration’s ChoreoQuest mentoring initiative with works by such esteemed choreographers as Karen Thornton Daniels, Obediah Wright, Ronald K. Brown, Germaul Barnes, and James Atkinson.

HOW MUCH: $20 general admission; $15 seniors and students with a valid I.D.

 

WHAT: Dr. Carlos E. Russell Book Signing

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, January 14, 5:00pm – 7:00pm, at the Restoration Plaza’s “Sky Light Gallery,” 1368 Fulton Street in Brooklyn, N.Y.

WHY GO: Dr. Russell is the esteemed author of the book, "Ghosts of the Gray Pony," a collection of 12 stories packaged into 244 pages. Attendees will be able to purchase an autographed copy for $16.95
