Why Go: It’s a fundraiser for the Mason’s Youth Program. Saint Andrews Lodge No. 7 will host "Masons Who Kook” at Bedford Academy H.S. ,1119 Bedford Ave Brooklyn. Good Food, Good Mood. Masonic Brothers Kooking it out, providing an array of delicious cuisine for your palate. This is a fund raiser for Bedford Academy H.S. continuing Educational Empowerment. The day will include a building wealth workshop (Carver Federal Savings); Musik Buissness seminar; Fashion Auction (Moshood); Health Fair.

Why Go: En Foco’s New Works #14 features photographers who question the traditional role of documentary photography to bear witness, by investigating its subjective, intimate and personal nature. Juror Andy Adams, editor and publisher of Flak Photo, selected photographers Rona Chang, Alex Leme, Susana Raab, Daniel Ramos and Sarah Sudhoff through a  national call for submissions. What: Fundraising Dance Party for Ifetayo Cultural Arts Academy

When/Where: Saturday, April 16, 2011, 10:00 pm – 2:00 am, The Alchemist Lounge located at 31 Rockwell Place (between De Kalb Avenue and Fulton Street)

Why Go: Ifetayo, Inc. is an arts and cultural organization dedicated to supporting the creative, educational and vocational development of youth and families of African descent. Our organization strives to enhance their lives by providing programs in cultural awareness, performing and visual arts, as well as academic instruction, health and wellness, and professional skills development.

Why Go: Come out and support the environmental programs of Magnolia Tree Earth Center of Bedford Stuyvesant and fill yourself with some of the finest cuisine in New York.  This is an amazing food tasting event by some Queens within the New York area who are donating their culinary talents to raise money for Magnolia Tree Earth Center

What: Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn: Traditional Tales and Their Tellers

When/Where: Sunday, April 17, 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm, The Brooklyn Historical Society, 128 Pierrepont Street, Brooklyn, NY

Why Go: The spring event series kicks off with a public symposium. Storytellers and folklore scholars gather to discuss the relevance of storytelling in the diverse communities of Brooklyn.

In the age of memoir, Facebook, and other means for promoting personal stories, they will explore the important cultural practice of telling traditional stories—folk tales, ghost stories, hero legends and myths—and the role of storytellers as community artists. The event is introduced and moderated by Brooklyn Arts Council’s Folk Arts Director, Dr. Kay Turner.

What: Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA Presents "Healthy Kids Day"

When/Where: Saturday, April 16, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA, 1121 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

Why Go: This is a free initiative by the YMCA of the USA to promote healthy family eating and exercise habits through activities. We will have all WII fit tournaments, family healthy cooking classes, kids hip hop classes and much more.
