WHY GO: On Black Friday, shopping is for suckers. Come on down to Brooklyn Bowl and score some real deals. We’re all ages from 12-6, so bring the whole clan over & get your free bowl on. Plus, we’ll be servin’ up all the Blue Ribbon grub you can imagine. Trust us– it’s better than sitting on your couch in a puddle of leftovers.

WHY GO: Indonesian monkey chanting, Mongolian throat singing and Balinese body popping are just a few of the things artist Akim Funk Buddha has embraced as a means of redefining hip-hop. For his latest Hip-Hop Holiday, Akim presents two nights of hip-hop wizardry. On Friday, he explores the art of the rhyme with the help of a DJ, two MCs, vocalists, dancers, and other special guests. Then, on Saturday, Funk Buddha takes the soul train global with a mash-up of traditional Asian and African music, rap, and more.

WHAT: The Third Annual Lighted Boat Parade

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, November 26, 7:00pm – 8:00pm, Best viewing is from Brooklyn Bridge Park and South Street Seaport

WHY GO: In what’s rapidly becoming a holiday tradition, the Saturday evening after Thanksgiving sees New York harbor glow with the electric vessels of the Annual Boat Parade. Tour boats, work boats, private boats, charter yachts and other seaworthy vehicles cruise around the harbor, decorated in twinkling lights to celebrate the holiday season. (If you’re looking, Santa will be on the Eastern Star Yacht).

WHAT: Jazz Performance: The Darrell Ward Septet

WHEN/WHERE: Friday, November 25, 8:00pm, Jazz 966, 966 Fulton Street, Bklyn, NY

WHY GO: Darrell Ward performs an eclectic mix of Pop, Soul and Global beats performed on drums with "Le Machine".

HOW MUCH: $15 suggested donation

 

WHAT: Tango Workshop

WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, November 26; the class consists of two sessions: 10:00am -11:00am, Beginners and 11:00am - 12:00pm, Advanced. , 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY

WHY GO: Every week for free, you can learn the fundamentals of one of the world’s most dramatic dances with a professional dancer.
