This weekend's activities are hot hot hot... Sunshine is predicted with warm weather, and there's a ton of free things to do. Time to shed your winter blues, and get out!

What: Swap & Meet (A Clothing Swap)

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, 11:30 am – 3:30 pm, The Brooklyn Public Library, Macon Branch, 361 Lewis Avenue

Why Go: What’s a clothing swap? A clothing swap is an excellent way to recycle clothing and other wearables. It is a fun, smart, eco-friendly and inexpensive way to both de-clutter and refill your closets. At the same time, you can find a bunch of new clothes and meet interesting people!

swap * meet is a social gathering that aims to lessen the amount of clothing/textiles that will end up in landfills. Please bring at least one bag of clothing and other wearables.

What: “It’s My Park Day”

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, beginning at 11:00 am in front of the Captain Fulton Statue at the center of Fulton Park (Chauncey Street between Lewis and Stuyvesant Avenues).

Why Go: Join thousands of other New Yorkers as they come together to volunteer and celebrate their neighborhood parks throughout the five boroughs. Join your Bed-Stuy neighbors as they paint park benches and trash cans in Fulton Park. Help refresh this neighborhood treasure in time for everyone to enjoy the warmer weather. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothes that they wouldn’t mind getting dirty. Plan to meet in front of the Captain Fulton statue at the center of the park on Saturday, May 21st at 11 AM. Volunteers, please pre-register at this email fultonvolunteers@gmail.com. Its My Park Day is coordinated by Partnership For Parks www.partnershipforparks.org.

What: The Bedford-Stuyvesant Annual Neighborhood Bike Ride

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, beginning at 9:00 am, departing from Common Grounds, 376 Tompkins Ave. (btw Jefferson and Putnam Aves)

Why Go: Take a leisurely bike ride with your neighboring residents, while visiting the beautiful gardens of Bedford-Stuyvesant. The tour will depart from and return to Common Grounds coffee shop, located at 376 Tompkins Avenue, between Jefferson and Putnam Avenues. For more information, email bedstuybikes@gmail.com.

What: DanceAfrica Pre-Opening Ceremony and Performance

When/Where: Saturday, May 21, 1:00 pm, at Restoration Plaza outdoor amphitheatre, located at 1368 Fulton Street

Why Go: Every year for the past 33 years, the Brooklyn Academy of Music has proudly presented DanceAfrica, a celebration of the cultural vitality of Africa and its diaspora, featuring a handful of dance companies from around the world. This year, RDTC will celebrate its 15-year anniversary representing Brooklyn in this highly anticipated event.

What: Food Truck Rally

When/Where: Sunday, May 22, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm, Grand Army Plaza, Prospect Park

Why Go: Rev up your appetite because a food truck rally is coming to Brooklyn! Taste a variety of treats from coffee, ice cream, slushies to dumplings, lobster, fallafel and more, all available at Grand Army Plaza from these participating trucks: Coolhaus, Cupcake Stop ,Joyride, Kelvin Natural Slush Co., Kimchi Taco, Milk Truck ,Mud Truck, Red Hook Lobster Pound , Rickshaw Dumpling, Souvlaki GR, Taïm Mobile, Eddie’s Pizza Truck, The Frying Dutchmen, The Treats Truck and Vanleeuwen Ice Cream. The Food Truck rally is organized by the Prospect Park Alliance with the NYC Food Truck Association. 

Cost: Event is free; there is a cost to purchase food
