Gender Bias?

Protestors gathered at a press conference today hosted by the New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) at 1 Police Plaza, in response to what the group is calling a gender bias-motivated assault by NYPD officers against three gay men on June 2 at 4:00 a.m. in Bed-Stuy.

The three men-- Josh Williams, Ben Collins and Antonio Maenza -- report they were walking past the 79th Precinct, located on Thompkins and Greene Avenue in Bed-Stuy, when an NYPD officer accused one of the men of public urination, attacked him and then threw him against a police car, causing him injuries that required hospitalization.

The victims, all of whom were arrested, said they were attacked unprovoked and that the police officers hurled homophobic slurs, such as "faggot" at them, although the comments were not heard on the video.

Do you believe this attack was evidence of gender discrimination? Further, should the actions of the arresting officers be investigated?
