"Dine in Brooklyn" Starting Soon

The Borough's annual food-fest runs until the end of the month, and we got a tasty preview

For 10 days a year, even the priciest Brooklyn restaurants become affordable.

That’s right, it’s time for Dine in Brooklyn, and from March 21 to March 31 a three-course dinner costs $25. A three-course lunch will set you back $20.11 (get it?) and other restaurants will offer two-for-the-price-of-one deals.

“Foodies, start your engines,” said Borough President Marty Markowitz, who touted the event entering its eighth year. “Your table is waiting!”

We here at Patch did plenty of “preview” dining during Markowitz’s announcement, and can attest to the quality of much of the food being served starting at the end of the month.

• The lobster tacos with guacamole from Strong Place in Cobble Hill were deliciously simple.

• The smoked salmon wrapped around a mascarpone-caper pesto from Scottadito in Park Slope was as fantastic as it sounds. The salmon and cheese made for a great salty-creamy contrast.

• The juicy pork tenderloin from Marco Polo in Carroll Gardens served with a tangy sweet and hot pepper sauce had a great bite to go with the tender meat marinated in rosemary and thyme.

• And for dessert, we grabbed — what else — a slice of Junior’s cheesecake.

More than 200 restaurants throughout the borough will be participating. Check here for the full list, which will be updated with more restaurants closer to the first day of the event.
