Community Forum on Redistricting and Demographic Changes

Is redistricting a political opportunity or disaster for communities of color?

WHAT: Center for Law and Social Justice and Black New Yorkers for Fair Redistricting present a Community Forum on   "Redistricting and Demographic Changes: Political Opportunity or Disaster for Black New Yorkers" with John Flateau, PhD Esmeralda Simmons, Esq.

WHEN/WHERE: Thursday, October 13, from 6:00pm - 8:30pm at Medgar Evers College/Academic Building, 1638 Bedford Avenue, Bklyn

WHY GO: Redistricting is important because it affects the weight of your vote. How and where districts are drawn in New York State will often determine if your community will be able to elect representatives of its choice. Redistricting refers to the process by which census data is used to redraw the lines and boundaries of electoral districts within a state. This process affects everything from city councils, and state legislatures to the United States House of Representatives.
