Tonight: Earl "The Pearl" Monroe!

Four decades after helping lead the New York Knicks to their last NBA title, the player known as "Black Magic" tells his amazing story

Mark your calendars, because this is big: A veritable basketball legend is coming to Bed-Stuy!  

On Tuesday, April 30, at 7:00 p.m., NBA Basketball Hall-of-Famer Vernon Earl “The Pearl” Monroe will be at the Billie Holiday Theater in Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation to introduce his book “Earl the Pearl: My Story.”  

Earl “The Pearl” Monroe is a sports superstar whose flair and impact on the game transcends statistics. Monroe is known all over the world by basketball fans as the one who changed the way basketball is played today: His game was the perfect combination of athletic ability, flamboyancy, grace and showmanship.  

Now, 40 years after helping lead the New York Knicks to their last NBA title, the player known as “Black Magic” tells his amazing story. “Earl the Pearl: My Story” was co-written with an able assist by Quincy Troupe (author of The Pursuit of Happyness). Monroe’s compelling story takes us from the playgrounds and hardships of his childhood in South Philadelphia to his status as a basketball legend.  

Restoration is delighted to join forces with Greenlight Bookstore is honoring this living legend and presenting this event, which will be followed by a book signing.
