Citibikes Awesome Except They're Totally Terrible

Software glitches kind of killing program's buzz, so far, Times says

By Matthew Hampton

Have you had trouble using the Citibikes? I haven't, but that might only be because I have not actually tried. When I find ten bucks lying around, I'll totally do it.

Unless of course I can't get the bike out of the rack. Which reportedly is the big problem for early bike-share adopters in the first two weeks of the program, according to the New York Times.

Admittedly, the nearly 200,000 rides that the Citibike program has managed to provide in two(-ish) weeks is impressive, but the Times also points to a growing rash of issues plaguing the racks themselves.

Like all computer-powered technology, the things are temperamental and frankly kind of pissy, which means that sometimes they just won't let you take your bike out, or put it back, the paper reported Wednesday.

Chattanooga, Tennessee is using the same computer software that runs Citibike, the Times said, and has been experiencing issues for over a year.

And if they can't make it work in the sprawling metropolis that is Chattanooga, what hope does NYC have?
