St Peter Claver Roman Catholic Church

Founded in 1921, this church was the first African-American Roman
Catholic Church in Brooklyn. It is historically known for welcoming in
everyone regardless of race or nationality at a time when more
prejudiced attitudes prevailed. St Peter Claver is heavily involved in
the Bed-Stuy community, with events like the annual free Thanksgiving
dinner for the less fortunate.
