Brooklyn Couple Commits Suicide, Were WBAI Radio Show Hosts and Life Coaches

The Park Slope couple who committed suicide last week inside their Park Slope apartment Patch has learned were co-hosts of a WBAI-FM radio show called “Pursuit of Happiness." 

Lynne Rosen was 46 years old and John Liggit was 48. They lived in their apartment between Eighth Avenue and Prospect Park West and were found dead with plastic bags over their heads by their building’s superintendent on Monday, June 3 right before noon. The couple placed a tube inside their bags, which was connected to a canister of helium. They then opened the valve on the helium canister and gas filled the plastic bags.   

Patch reported the suicides exclusively Tuesday night. The New York Daily News reported the couple’s names on Wednesday.   

On every fourth Wednesday each month, the couple would take to the airwaves at 1 p.m. and host their radio show, “Pursuit of Happiness” on WBAI on 99.5 FM. Their show was a call-in show, which focused on “personal development and growth,” according to WBAI’s website. Rosen and Liggit would interview inspirational guests. 

As well as being a radio host, Rosen was a life coach, speaker and consultant. Littig was a motivational speaker and a personal life coach. He performed as the music artist “Jadex,” and produced the NYC music festival entitled “Naked Sounds.” 

Rosen and Liggit co-founded the life coach program Why Not Now, which provides “focused life coaching designed to help foster your inner strengths, identify hidden and untapped resources,” their website explains. The program is goal-based and said it would help put people “confidently on the path to designing the life you've always wanted to live.”
