BEEP Markowitz kicks off MLK Music Concert Series at Wingate Park July 19

One of New York City's largest free outdoor music series kicks off July 19, a week from today: The Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series at Wingate Field in Crown Heights.

Hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and celebrating its spectacular 30th anniversary, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series debuts this year with one of its most stellar lineups to date, including Bootsy Collins and the SOS Band, Public Enemy, Salt-n-Pepa, Ledisi, and Cissy Houston, who will give a special concert dedicated to her daughter, Whitney, who passed away this past spring.

The free concerts are Monday nights at Wingate Field, with entrances on Brooklyn Avenue between Rutland Road and Winthrop Street. The public is encouraged to bring their own chairs.
