NYC Blizzard UPDATE: Heavy Snow and Strong Winds

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Bedford-Stuyvesant through Monday, December 27th, 6:00 pm

Update, December 26th, 1:30 p.m.:

  • The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) in conjunction with the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) today announced the suspension of Alternate Side Parking (ASP) regulations Citywide for Monday, December 27 to facilitate snow removal. However, parking meters will remain in effect throughout the City
  • Wind is expected to get up to between 50 - 60 miles an hour
  • Snow plows are angled to the right when removing snow on the street, so it is best to park your car on the left-hand side of the street, if you are able
  • The DOT also reminds people to find your snow shovel, and secure your trash cans
  • If you have planned air travel out of the city, check with your airline, as many flights have been canceled through Tuesday
  • Try to stay indoors beginning at about 6:00 tonight
  • Winds may cause some power outages or some trees down

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the area beginning Sunday at 6:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. Monday. The forecast calls for 10-15 inches of snow across parts of northeastern New Jersey, New York City, southeastern Connecticut and Long Island.

Snowfall is expected to be heavy, with strong winds and a possibility of thunder, snowdrifts and zero visibility at times, according to the NWS.
