Elected officials, Community Orgs, Shop Owners, Residents and Celebrities Come Together in the name of Bed-Stuy pride, for the 7th Annual "Bed-Stuy Alive!" Festival

Mark your calendars right now: Beginning Saturday, October 8, through Saturday, October 15, come celebrate the community’s history, commerce and culture at the 7th Annual Bed Stuy Alive! Festival.

The week of events is sponsored by the Bed Stuy Alive! Collective, which includes Bedford-Stuyvesant Artists’ Association, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, Bedford-Stuyvesant Gateway BID; Bedford-Stuyvesant YMCA; Bridge Street Development Corporation, The Brownstoners of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Inc., Central Brooklyn Community Services, the city of New York- Community Board 3, and Project 17 Realty & Associates Ltd.

Bed-Stuy Patch wants everyone in Bed-Stuy -- longtime residents and newcomers -- to stand up and represent your borough and your neighborhood! Tell your friends, your neighbors, your relatives... Let's come together and reinforce the renaissance of Bed-Stuy!

Saturday, October 8th:  

Street Fair Kick-Off, Fulton Street at Restoration (New York and Brooklyn Avenues)

  • 3rd Annual Tohma Y. Faulkner Community Awards honoring local heroes, and featuring excerpts from the MAAFA Suite-A Healing Journey, a moving story of the African Diaspora told through music, dance, and spoken word; courtesy of St. Paul Community Church
  • 5th Annual Restoration Rocks Music Festival sponsored by Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation with Lyricist Lounge. FREE day-long music concert. Special performances by Idle Warship (Talib Kweli and Res), Pharoahe Monche and the Brooklyn Philharmonic featuring Mos Def.
    Bed-Stuy Green Demonstrations
  • Healthy Bed-Stuy Health Screenings, Artists’ Row, Bed-Stuy Food Court, Lively Kids’ Corner, and
  • Bed-Stuy Marketplace (many hand-crafted treasures for sale)

Sunday, October 9th

30th Annual 10K Run and Walk: Come out and run or walk scenic Bed-Stuy. Post the run, the streets will be open for bikers.

October 8th - 15th

Savor Bed Stuy: Bedford Stuyvesant Gateway Business Improvement District will feature fantastic specials by local restaurants, offered all week through out the festival restaurants.

Saturday, October 15th,

  • 8th Annual Studio Strut (Free) sponsored by the Bedford- Stuyvesant Artists’ Association.
    Local artists will display their works at local galleries. Begin and pick up map at Zion Gallery, 152 MacDonough Street.
  • 33rd Annual House Tour of Bedford-Stuyvesant sponsored by Brownstoners of Bedford-Stuyvesant (Purchase tickets at “Old Boys High School”  on Marcy and Putnam Avenues)
  • Free homebuyers’ seminar. Proceeds support the Bernard Mcdonald/GeorgeGlee, Jr. and Joan Maynard Scholarship Funds
