A Thanksgiving Miracle for Local Community Orgs

The Borough President's Office donated more than a thousand turkeys and sides to local community organizations for Thanksgiving

The Brooklyn Borough President’s Office kicked off Thanksgiving early by distributing more than a thousand frozen turkeys, with sides like apples, collard greens, baking potatoes and sweet potatoes, to nearly one hundred local community groups at Borough Hall Plaza today.

Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham and Senior Advisor Carlo Scissura, along with members of the Lions and Leo Clubs, as well as other volunteers, helped to distribute dinners for local senior centers, soup kitchens, houses of worship and shelters.

Sponsors for the event included American Stock Transfer and Trust Company, Amalgamated Bank, Carver Federal Savings Bank, Downtown Brooklyn Partnership (working with the Court-Livingston-Schermerhorn BID, MetroTech BID and Fulton Street BID), Fairway Market, FreshDirect, Flushing Bank, Health Plus, The Lebanese Heritage Day Committee, National Grid, Northfield Bank, Pat LaFrieda Meat Purveyors, Smalls Electrical Construction, ShopRite, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods.
