A "Great Day" on Monroe Street

Beautification Day brings together neighbors on one block of Monroe Street in Bed-Stuy

Saturday, June 25, was Plot the Block Cleanup Day on one special block of Monroe Street in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

The campaign was a day of block beautification, in which residents cleaned up the block and planted new flowers and trees. Nikita Hunter started the campaign to bring neighbors together and also encourage the children on her block of Monroe between Tompkins and Throop to begin thinking about their environment and ways they can make it better.

The kids were encourage to participate by tapping into their creative and artistic energy and creating an impromptu mural-- on the sidewalk!
