5 Things You Should Know Today (Sunday)

A Baby Expo, a Punch-a-Thon and music fromt the African-American Experience!

1. Brooklyn Baby Expo
Are you a new parent? Are you looking for a gift for a new parent? Then come on out to the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Baby Expo – Sunday June 2, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the International School of Brooklyn (477 Court Street) in Carroll Gardens presented by A Child Grows in Brooklyn (www.achildgrows.com/expo)

2. Street Cleaning Event
New York City Streets are dirty. But it doesn't have to be that way! Pick up a broom, grab a glass of lemonade, and join your neighbors as we sweep the streets to clean our neighborhood, and our planet. Volunteers from the Prospect Heights Street Tree Task Force will be on hand to teach tree care essentials. Coffee and donuts will be served, care of The Prospect Place of Brooklyn Block Association, Inc.  

3. Music From the African-American Experience
The Brooklyn Contemporary Chorus (BCC) will present an uplifting concert of ‘Music of the African-American Experience’ on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at 4 p.m. at the historic Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church located at 85 South Oxford Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11217. Tickets are available at the door for $20. 

4. 8th Annual Punch-a-thon
Bring the entire family out to check out CAE’s version of a walkathon: Participants of all ages learn martial arts punching and basic self-defense techniques from trained instructors, then come together to complete 1,000 punches representing our communal strength and solidarity. 

5. Volunteer at NYC Tour de Cure!
Whether you want to meet new friends, receive school credit, help-out that resume or learn a new skill, the American Diabetes Association is the place to do it! Become part of the NYC tour de Cure team and directly contribute to the success of an event that promotes diabetes awareness and prevention!
